the land

There are two properties I'm looking at. Both are adjacent to BLM land. They are unzoned, and thus can be used for what I want to do.

One is 320 acres. It will require a deep well of 400 ft or more, but the land is well worth it at the price they are asking. The entire plot is surrounded by BLM land. So in addition to the property, guests will also have thousands of acres to explore.

The other is 160 acres and is like wise adjoined to BLM land. I haven't heard back from the agent regarding ground water, but its likely to be the same as the larger property. And Like the larger property, guests will have access to a large area of public land to explore.

I am also see a lot of other smaller parcels of land ranging from 40 to 120 acres all priced low enough that I can afford the land. Just need investors to fund the development of the land.

The dream

When I was born, it was right here in Portland Oregon. I lived here in Portland till i was about 5, then my father thought it would be a good idea to move us up to a small town called Skamokawa Washington. This was a podunk little town that had less than 250 inhabited.

There we had a small farm of about 40 acres. I grew up on that farm until i was a month shy of my 21st birthday. We raised Goats and chickens, and for a time sheep as well. They were mostly my mothers hobby.

But as i said, i lived on that far till i was a few weeks shy of my 21st birthday. I was asked by my grandfather to come and stay with him and help take care of my uncle who was a quadriplegic from age 8 after a car accident. I've lived in Portland ever since.

Now i'm 35. I hate the city. I really do. I so want to get back to living as far away from this mad house called civilization as I can. I'm going crazy with all the sirens waking me up at night. If its not a fire truck, its an cop car, or an ambulance. and if its not one of them, its one of my neighbor's car alarms going off!

To add to it, there's all the smells of city life. and all the cramped quarters, and all the city regulations. Its driving me up the wall I tell you! I got to get out of the city. I just can't live here any more.

I want to be able to look up at the sky and see stars. I want to step out on to my porch, take a deep breath and get a full lung of air rather than exhaust fumes. I want to hear the sounds of nature, rather than the noise of hundreds of cars driving up and down Powell blvd.

Well. I've found two plots of land, well far away from civilization. Each is offered for, pardon the pun, dirt cheep. I can afford the land, but unfortunately I don't have the money to develop the land.

I want to build a grand lodge, with room for 10 guest rooms. In addition to the lodge I also want to have several time share cabins spread out over the land holding. As well as a number of designated camp sites for people what to "rough it".

There will be a horse stable for people who want to go horse back riding. Near by there is a Lake for those who want to go fishing. And during hunting season there are plenty of dear and elk roaming around the area. For nature watchers, their are all kinds of wild life to seek out, photograph, and catalog.

But the most important selling point of the place is that its a complete escape from the world for a week or two. All those things that are driving me up the wall here in Portland will be over 100 miles away and far from ear shot. Where they can't bother me, nor will they bother my guest.
